Guidelines for attending Mass

1.    In keeping with Bishop Boyea’s instructions, attendance will be limited to 25% of our church capacity; i.e., no more than 250 people may attend each Mass. (Bishop Boyea has dispensed Catholics in the Diocese of Lansing from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass through September 6, 2020. To learn more, please click here.)

2.    To maintain this limit, every person will have to sign up ahead of time to attend a Sunday Mass. (Sign-up is not required to attend a weekday Mass.) Links to the sign-up forms will be made available on late Wednesday afternoon via the website and the Mid-Week Notes. In keeping with the bishop’s instructions, you will be permitted to sign up for Mass only if you are a registered parishioner at Christ the King. The 11:00 am Mass will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend.

3.    Please do not come to Church if you are sick.  Use good judgment if you are elderly or have an underlying medical condition.

4.    Wash your hands before arriving.

5.    Please bring your own hand sanitizer and use it before receiving Communion.

6.    Everyone must wear a face mask for the duration of Mass with the following limited exceptions:

  • Masks will not be required for children between the ages of two and seven, although masks are encouraged for them as well. Children under two should not wear a face covering. (See the American Academy of Pediatrics page, “Cloth Face Coverings for Children during COVID-19,” for more information.)
  • Anyone who has trouble breathing or who is unable to remove the cover without assistance need not wear a mask.

7.   To minimize the spread of airborne germs, there will be no congregational singing and the hymnals have been removed from all the pews.

8.   All holy water fonts will remain empty.

9.  There will be no Sign of Peace.

10.  The Precious Blood will not be distributed for Holy Communion; please contact Fr. Ed if you can only receive the Precious Blood.

11.  Restrooms are for emergency use only;  please use the bathroom before you come to the Church.

12.  Please make sure to sit at least 6 feet from people outside your own household.  Please sit in every other pew, following the instructions on the pews.
