Prepare for Pentecost!

This year, Pentecost is on Sunday, June 5. Following the example of Mary and the other disciples, we traditionally pray a novena for the nine days before Pentecost as a way of asking the Holy Spirit to come anew into our hearts. Why pray a novena to the Holy Spirit? Watch this video with Dave Mangan and his daughter Aimee Godfrey to find out!

This year’s novena begins on Friday, May 27. Two novena options are below:

As Fr. Ed often reminds us, this is also a great time to (re-)read the Acts of the Apostles. See what the early Church looked like after the Fire of the Holy Spirit fell in the Upper Room, and ask Him to renew His wonders in our time! You can read it online at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ website,

On Saturday, June 4, our Pentecost Vigil Mass will be at 7:30 pm, with Confessions at 7:00 pm. (There will be no 4:30 pm Mass or 4:00 pm Confessions on June 4.) We will use the readings for the Extended Vigil Mass and have extra time for praise and worship, beginning at 7:10 pm. The Mass usually lasts about 2-3 hours. The Mass will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel.

If you have a prophetic word for the Vigil, please email it to Peter Vanicelli ( by Thursday, June 2, at 5:00 pm. Please include your name and contact information (email address and/or phone number) where you can be reached if there are any questions.

Pentecost will also be the close of Christ the King’s year-long celebration of our 40th anniversary. Come and thank the Lord for His goodness as we continue our next 40 years of praise and service of our King!
